Email Notifications for Your Music Blog Team Without the Inbox Overload

Words by Charlotte ·

Email notifications for music blog contributors only help if they don't bury people, so Zinery now sends one daily digest of what needs attention and an instant email only when something is delivered or a post is ready to read. Nobody gets more than three emails a day.

What does Zinery email me about?

Editors and admins get one digest a day with the requests filed, the requests withdrawn and the posts waiting for review. Writers and photographers get the news about their own work: a request approved or declined, a show or request delivered, a post sent back or published. Instant emails are kept for the moments someone is waiting on you, such as a delivery or a post submitted for review. Everything else waits for the digest.

Why a limit of three emails a day?

Because a notification you can't keep up with is a notification you stop opening. Each person gets at most three emails a day, and if the day is busy the rest moves into the next digest. Nothing is lost, it just arrives together.

Can I tell people why I said no?

Yes. When you approve, decline or send something back, you can add a short note, and it travels with the email. A decline stops being a silent "no", and a request that needs changes tells the writer what to change. People filing a show can also add a note for the editor, such as "I already have a photo pass from the label".

Who decides how much email I get?

You do. Under Preferences you choose, separately for the work waiting for your review and for updates on your own requests and posts, between the recommended setting, everything at once, the daily digest only or no emails. Every message has a one-click unsubscribe, so nobody has to dig through settings to stop an email.

Quick answers

Do contributors get a digest too?

They get the updates on their own work. How often is up to them in "Preferences".

Where do I change my settings?

In the hub, under "Preferences".

Where can I see every update?

On the changelog (opens in a new tab), which lists only what makes running a music blog easier.
